What is it?

The Sports Committee is a new initiative developed by our VP Activities to better facilitate the operational, financial and developmental support that the Union offers to its Sports Clubs and recreational sports program.

The committee is made up of the VP Activities and 8 appointed members selected by the previous committee based on their ability to represent the different areas that make up sport at Lancaster University.

The Committee shall meet regularly throughout the academic year at a rate set by the chair – to be able to efficiently deal with business in a timely manner.

How does this affect me?

  • Roses - We had an amazing home Roses year and we look forawrd to next years away Roses. We want to an away victory and the sports committee will also act as the Roses Committee for the same academic year, giving steer to the schedule of fixtures, new initiatives and approval of new events, to help make this happen.
  • Feedback and Ideas - The members will present feedback and suggestions for change from students and club members to the rest of the board and help with the current Sports Review.
  • Opportunity for Valuable Experience - As a member of the committee you will garner the wealth and experience of working in a professional organisation; financial planning and budgeting, operational planning and event delivery as well as evaluating and communicating your successes.
